How to Unlock Hamlet

Hamlet is the demo’s third Timehacker and the one people will try to select on minute one. He is a stage robot with a reconfigurable longsword and shield, built for close-range groups. He is not on the starting roster. Nyx and Fina are. This page is the unlock chain as Streetlamp described it for the September window: complete a loop, open the second character, talk to Rui at the Fortune Chip, then trip the related story in specific timelines. Kit details beyond the unlock live on the Hamlet character page. Dates and wipe rules live on the demo guide.

If you have not finished a single loop, stop here and run Getting Started. Hamlet’s door does not open from the title screen.

Who Hamlet is (and is not)

Hamlet was the silhouette in the June trailer: a stage robot, not a second Nyx. Streetlamp’s demo notes say he fights with a longsword and shield that can be reconfigured during combat. The moveset is close-range and built to deal with groups — think packed Rust Avenue rooms, not Fina’s mid-lane poke. He is a Timehacker you earn, then take back into the same Sector 7 streets with a heavier front line.

He is not:

  • A starter next to Nyx and Fina
  • A second fighter you bring into the same timeline (SlashZero is single-player only)
  • A secret boss (Erik and Ye are the secret bosses; Hamlet is playable)
  • A full-game 1.0 carry. The demo wipe on 23 September 2026 deletes the unlock with everything else

If you want the hidden fights instead of the robot, go to secret bosses and HIEROS-I. You can do both in one window. You should not do both before you own a completed loop.

Step-by-step unlock

1. Complete a loop as Nyx or Fina

Pick Nyx or Fina and finish a full timeline loop — hub, street lamp, Sector 7 stretch, boss, back to camp. Dying and returning through Silver does not count. The game wants a clear. If you are stalling on a named boss, take Causality of Fate’s Baseline revival and a shop heal rather than resetting for a “perfect” first run. Hamlet does not grade stylish rank.

2. Unlock the second starting Timehacker

After that clear, the other of Nyx/Fina opens at camp so you can switch kits. Talk to people. Do not immediately lamp out as the new face. The second character unlock is the flag that Rui has something to say; skipping camp is how players “bug” Hamlet when they simply never asked.

3. Talk to Rui at the Fortune Chip

Rui keeps the Fortune Chip. This is the clue desk. Exhaust his Hamlet-related lines. If he points at a timeline, a lamp, or a story object, follow that, not a random side room because it glowed. Playtests treated Rui as the hub brain for unlocks; treating him as flavour text delays the robot by hours.

4. Trigger the related story in specific timelines

Hamlet’s playable flag is not a single menu tick. You have to meet timeline and mission conditions on later loops so his story actually plays. That means:

  • Re-enter the timelines Rui flagged, not a brand-new branch every time.
  • Finish the story beats that mention the stage robot, even if they look like camp cutscenes.
  • Keep looping with the second character if a prompt says the pair of Timehackers need to overlap. Streetlamp’s public language is “trigger related story in specific timelines,” not “buy Hamlet from a shop.”

When the flag sticks, Hamlet appears as a selectable Timehacker at camp. If he does not, you are missing a talk, a timeline, or the original loop clear — not a DLC code.

Hamlet’s kit once he is yours

  • Weapons: longsword and shield, reconfigurable in combat. Expect stance or mode swaps rather than Nyx’s dual-blade pace or Fina’s gun range.
  • Range: close. He wants packed groups. Pull rooms together; do not snipe.
  • Role: front-line clearer for Sector 7 density and secret-boss adds. He is a bad Fina substitute if you picked guns because you dislike melee telegraphs.
  • Builds: Law of Thunder and True Self of Flame both like packed bodies. Wisdom of Wind is less mandatory than it is on Nyx. Read builds before you embed a Chip that turns his shield into a joke.

Take him into Timehacker Training if the demo has already unlocked it, then into a timeline you already understand. First Hamlet loop is for muscle memory, not for Ye.

First Hamlet run without wasting the window

  1. Slot a Chip you actually read. Do not inherit Fina’s Gun Kata.
  2. Take a survivability Blessing early (Hope of Life or Fate Baseline) until you know his dash windows.
  3. Fight on wide floors. Trains are harder for a shield kit until you know the reconfigure button under camera shake.
  4. After one clear with Hamlet, you can split remaining evenings between secret bosses and a second kit on the Timehacker hub.

Hamlet exists so the demo roster is three playstyles, not so you skip Nyx and Fina. Earn him, break a few rooms with the shield, then go back to the lamp that still has Rui’s next sentence on it. The robot will still be in the select screen tomorrow. The wipe will not.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Timehackers jumping into the demo or planning for launch.

Is Hamlet available at the start of the demo?

No. Nyx and Fina are the default Timehackers. Hamlet unlocks after you complete a loop, open the second character, talk to Rui, and trigger his story in specific timelines.

Do I have to main Nyx, or can Fina unlock Hamlet too?

Either starter works. Streetlamp's steps are complete a loop as Nyx or Fina, then continue the camp and timeline story. Pick the kit you can actually clear with.

Who is Rui?

Rui is the Fortune Chip keeper in the hub camp. He is the NPC you talk to for Hamlet clues. Skipping him is the most common self-inflicted lock.

How does Hamlet play?

Close-range groups with a reconfigurable longsword and shield. Full kit notes are on the Hamlet page. He is a stage robot, not a gunner and not a dual-blade assassin.

Will Hamlet carry into the full game?

Not from this save. The demo is a data-wipe test that ends 23 September 2026, 15:00 UTC. The unlock is for the window only. See the demo guide.

Should I hunt secret bosses before unlocking Hamlet?

Finish the loop and the Rui chain first. Erik and Ye assume you already understand a kit. Hamlet can then be the close-range body you take into those fights — secret bosses.
