SlashZero Nyx

Male Timehacker with vibroblades, throwing knives, and the fastest air and ground movement in the demo.

Nyx

Nyx is the male dual-blade assassin you can select the moment the SlashZero demo boots. Streetlamp Studio’s official kit copy calls him an assassin walking between light and shadow, bound to no timeline and born to fight. In the September 2026 window he is one of two default Timehackers alongside Fina. Hamlet sits behind an unlock. If you want the game’s close-range fantasy on day one, this is the page to read before you leave camp.

The full launch is still Spring 2027. Nothing here is a launch-meta bible. It is a demo field guide for a fighter whose job is to stay glued to a target while the floor, the train roof, or the jungle canopy tries to throw you off.

Weapons and range

Nyx’s primary tools are vibroblades — two close-range swords that want you inside arm’s length. Streetlamp also gives him throwing knives so the kit is not helpless when a gunner or a floating drone sits just outside slash range. Treat knives as a stitch, not a Fina replacement. If you are spending a whole room at knife distance, you picked the wrong Timehacker; swap to Fina or stop retreating.

Combat is the shared SlashZero skeleton: normal strings, a special, an ultimate, a dash, and Blessings that rewrite the string as the loop goes on. Nyx’s version of that skeleton is density. He wants to launch, follow, and keep the enemy in the air because his damage lives in contact time. Read the controls guide for the actual buttons. This page is about when those buttons matter.

Mobility: why previews keep calling him the fastest

TechRaptor’s early preview put it plainly: Nyx zips through air and ground more efficiently than Fina. That still matches the demo. He is the Timehacker you take to a moving train roof, a collapsing catwalk, or a bioluminescent jungle where the next platform is a mushroom cap and the last one is on fire. Official combat shots show him mid-air with both blades out, an enemy pinned in a launch, and elemental hazards already cooking the floor. That screenshot is the kit in one frame: he is not holding a lane, he is occupying the vertical space.

Dash is not a panic button on Nyx. It is how you re-enter a juggle after a bounce, how you stay on a train car when the camera lurches, and how you punish a recovery. If your dash is only an escape, you are playing him like a worse Fina. Spend a camp session in the controls guide until dash-into-normal feels automatic.

Train fights and tight floors

The demo loves cramped horizontal stages: subway roofs, neon ledges, interiors with one good wall. Nyx is the reason those stages exist. A fire ring on a train roof is a death sentence if you stand still and a playground if you can orbit the cluster. Dual blades plus dash let you clip two bodies, launch the third, and land before the car’s edge deletes you. Fina can shoot that same roof from a safer stance, but she pays in time; Nyx pays in positioning. If you keep falling off, the fix is not a different Blessing — it is shorter dashes and fewer greedy extras.

Jungle and rooftop launches work the same way. Get the first hit, take the fight up, and do not drop the body onto a hazard you created. True Self of Flame is delicious on Nyx until you ignite the only floor you had.

When to pick Nyx instead of Fina

Pick Nyx when the timeline is a movement exam. Pick him when rooms are packed with melee bodies you can juggle as a group. Pick him when you already like character-action games and will actually practice strings. Pick Fina when the next fight is a wide arena with long telegraphs — the dragon-like boss in the flooded hall is her screenshot for a reason — or when you are still dropping inputs and need space to see them. Pick Hamlet only after you have a completed loop and want a shield for doorway rooms; he is not a Nyx sidegrade on character select.

If you are bouncing between Nyx and Fina every death, you will learn neither dash nor beam spacing. Main Nyx for a handful of loops, then swap on purpose.

Blessings and Authorities that fit the blades

Nyx wants contact effects. True Self of Flame rewards him for staying in the pile. Wisdom of Wind feeds the mobility that already defines the kit. Law of Thunder can work if you can apply wet or cold and then keep hitting, but the thunder board is easier to steer from Fina’s range; see the build tier list before you force it. Causality of Fate’s revival baseline is a crutch every Timehacker can use, and Nyx uses it because he takes chip damage by design.

Do not copy a Fina gun board onto Nyx and hope the knives carry it. Start from the build primer, then specialize. The character tier list ranks him S in the demo for mobility and instant access, not because a hidden damage formula says so.

Camp still matters. Silver will talk you through the next excursion. Rui’s Fortune Chip is the Hamlet path, not a Nyx upgrade vendor. Gift NPCs between loops if you are playing the hub like the Hades-style preview described, then take Nyx back through the lamp while the demo clock still has days on it.

Nyx is the Timehacker who makes SlashZero feel like a character-action game instead of a gun corridor. If your loops feel slow, you are probably holding the wrong stance — or holding Fina’s guns and wondering why the train roof will not sit still. Put the blades on, chase the launch, and let Hamlet wait until you have actually finished a loop.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Timehackers jumping into the demo or planning for launch.

Is Nyx male, and what does he fight with?

Yes. Nyx is the male starting Timehacker. Streetlamp lists vibroblades for close work and throwing knives as a short ranged option. He is not a gunner; that is Fina.

Is Nyx faster than Fina?

In air and on ground, yes — that is the consistent preview and demo read. Fina wins on safer spacing and beam coverage, not on traversal. Details are on the Fina page and the character tier list.

Should a new player pick Nyx first?

Pick Nyx first if you will practice dash and launches. If you want a slower first loop with more space to think, pick Fina. Either starter is unlocked; Hamlet is not.

Which Blessings should Nyx take in the demo?

Lean Flame and Wind, then Fate if you are dying to chip. Thunder is possible but easier to steer on Fina. Use the build primer and the build tier list instead of grabbing every icon.

Where do I learn Nyx's actual buttons?

The controls guide covers normals, specials, ultimates, dash, and aerial juggles. This page is role and matchup advice, not the input list.

Does Nyx stay this strong at the Spring 2027 launch?

Unknown. This ranking is demo-era. Streetlamp can retune mobility, add Timehackers, and change Blessing math. Recheck the character tier list after launch instead of locking a main forever.
